Looking forward to being able to drive? The freedom and independence that comes with being able to hop in the car and go? Sorted out your Provisional Licence yet? Can you see the new style number plate from 20 metres?
So now you're looking for a Qualified Driving Instructor? You want someone good, someone who isn't going to shout at you and make you feel silly? You want someone nice, who is going to be patient and encouraging and help you achieve your potential. You've found me, Good.
It's really imporant to learn how to drive safely, right from the start, and as a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) I have been specially trained to teach you what you need to know so that you are safe on the road, not just so that you can pass your test, but for the future. I want you to be a safe, confident driver because learning to drive is just the beginning.
I'm here to help you develop your skills for a lifetime of safe driving and because everyone is different I will help you learn at your pace with patience and encouragement. So what are you waiting for?
.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
Before booking any driving lessons you must make sure that you have a valid, current Driving Licence and you will need to contact the DVLA in order to share your Driving Licence information with me.
Just go online and type in www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence then type in your Driving Licence Number, your National Insurance Number and your Postcode and click on Generate a Check Code. Text me the Check Code and make sure it is exactly as it appears .e.g. KT3pmw8X together with your Driving Licence Number.
Once this has been checked we are ready to go, but remember to bring your Driving Licence with you to your first lesson so that I can check it really is you in the photo!

Do you know the rules of the road? What the signs mean? Why put a duck on a road sign or even a frog? Why do the lines on the road change length? What does Give Way actually mean?
Road signs and markings are everywhere and as a pedestrian or passenger in a car or bus you probably have a vague idea of what they mean, but most of them don't necessarily apply to you because you're not driving. All that is about to change.
As a driver signs, signals and road markings are really important. They are there to help and guide you, alert you to potential danger and restrict your speed to a safe level so it important that you actually know what they mean and if and when they apply to you.
You don't need me for this, you can book your Theory Test on line at www.gov.uk/theorytest. At the moment it costs £23 and you can take it in Croydon or Crawley test centres.
There are 2 parts to the test; multiple choice questions and a hazard perception video test which is about spotting hazards on the road. You book and take them as a single test. You must pass both parts to pass the test.
You will have 57 minutes to answer 50 multiple choice questions. A question and several possible answers appear on a screen. You just have to select the right answer, but don't panic, if you get stuck you can 'flag' the questions that you want to come back to later. You can also go back to any question you want to review and can change your answer at any point.
There's loads to learn and you can't just blag it because once your behind the wheel and driving the car you are responsible and you need to know what all the signs mean. I will help you as much as I can by asking you loads of questions as we drive around, but remember you can't take your Practical Driving Test until you've passed your Theory Test.
The questions in the TheoryTest are based on 3 books:
The Highway Code
Know Your Traffic Signs
Driving - The Essential Skills
Whether you choose to study from books or buy an App for your phone or tablet it's time to get on with it and don't forget to practice the Hazard Perception Test too.
Good Luck!
